“And what you believe in” - For the next season Autumn Winter 2011 - 2012 Manuela Mariotti plays on unusual contrasts between cultures, fabrics, shapes, weights and lengths. Contrasting styles weave together. A French ”chich” culture meets with the “color underground” grunge culture with a masculine spirit. Fabrics, specifically designed, play the main role, recalling far peoples and cultures, where fabrics are hand made, with passion, then, as time goes by, they wear out revealing an ever changing “inner soul”. Another original fabric is a velvet we could call “barocka” with devorè prints, you can find it in some pants and jackets in the collection. The mix of diversities is also evident in the game of overlapped fantasies and in the combination of materials that match in an unusual way. The print specifically created for Dondup is called “the spirit of the people”. The effect of prints changes with the materials becoming ethnic on heavy wool and decò on the light silk. Other peculiar features of the collection: special finishing of the hemlines, precious enamel buttons, golden inserts, dusty colors recalling the military style. A lot of freshness for denim and pants, with an array of models from “palazzo” to skinny, from the retrò short flared to the hyper sexy biker style. Worthy accessories round up the collection: the classic models are revisited by our stylists and enriched with details like rock chains and specially designed Dondup studs. Biker and even rider boots, Beatles ankle boots and classic gentleman shoes. Ladie bags go from the studded maxi pochette, to the more elegant and light soft leather bags, and the crocodile printed shoulder bags. Square shaped like office folders, leather coated and transformed, ready for the evening. A collection that speaks different languages drawing from a number of ethnical references, a result of a research on multiple styles to give life to a unique “total look”.
